AN ANDOVER mother has high hopes of buying her council-owned house after striking it lucky with a lottery win.

Sharon Ellis, 48, won £10,000 with the People’s Postcode Lottery.

She said: “I’ve already won three lots of £5 since I joined in April.

“I had a feeling I would have a lot of chances to win with People’s Postcode Lottery, and I was right!”

Sharon, a part-time stock controller, was at home with her 20- year-old son Sam and husband, David, aged 52, when Scott Quinnell knocked on her door to deliver her cheque.

She said: “My husband had only just got home and he could see the Lottery team near the house so came to let me know.

“I was still completely shocked when they showed up with the cheque though.

“I loved meeting Scott Quinnell, he was lovely. My husband is also Welsh and he was a bit upset when I told him Scott has a nicer accent!”

International rugby legend and People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize ambassador, Scott Quinnell, said: “It was brilliant to meet the lovely Sharon and her family in Andover.

“They’re a fantastic bunch and I hope they have a big celebration tonight. All the best to them.”

Sharon and David plan to be sensible with their winnings and have kept the news quiet.

Sharon said: “I haven’t told anyone yet. Not even my daughter Nicola, who lives away from home.

“I think once the shock dies down, we’ll have a think about what to spend it on. Our house is council-owned so I would love to make some moves towards buying it."
