Rector off to pastures new
9:00am Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
IN the next few weeks the congregations of St Michael and All Angels Church in West Andover and the churches at Amport, Grateley, Monxton and Quarley, Nether Wallop and Over Wallop will bid farewell to their team rector, the Rev Chris Rankine.
After 12 years at St Michael’s, four of those leading the Portway and Danebury team, Chris is leaving next month to take up a new ministry in Eastcote, London.
His last service at St Michael’s will be at 10.30am on Sunday, 6 October, when the congregation will gather to thank him for all his hard work and commitment to the spiritual life of the church and wider community over the years.
He said: “It has been a privilege to serve the church and community in Andover.
“Ministry is both rewarding and challenging and I have made lifelong friends.
“But my family and I are looking forward to a new chapter.”
During his time here, Chris has forged strong links with local schools and set up a thriving Cub pack and Scout troop on Burghclere Down.
