Fire in school
CHILDREN were evacuated from Winton School, in London Road, Andover, this morning (19) following a fire. The emergency services were called just after 11am and everyone was evacuated safely. The schoolchildren were later sent home. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service believe the fire started in the boiler room and smoke could be seen billowing out of the roof of the school.
Reporter Joe Faretra says the road past the school was still closed to traffic at 1pm.
We hope to reveal whether the school will be open for business tomorrow later this afternoon.
