Mineral plan in place for county
9:00am Saturday 19th October 2013 in News
THE Hampshire Minerals and Waste plan has been adopted by all the partners, meaning future planning applications for minerals and waste development will be assessed and determined on the basis of the policies within it.
The aim of the plan is to protect Hampshire’s environment and communities and to support Hampshire’s economy through sustainable management of minerals and waste development.
Councillor Seán Woodward, executive member for environment at Hampshire County Council, said: “The responsible approach we have taken will safeguard the future of Hampshire rather than endangering some of the county’s most vulnerable communities, nature conservation sites and landscapes.
“It is about ensuring the right development in the right place at the right time.
“Any future applications for development will be considered on their own merit and determined on the basis of the policies within this plan. This includes ensuring that applications address the management and mitigation of the impact of development on local communities and the surrounding environment.”
