Banding together for senior sounds...

A NEW musical group has been born in Andover – to keep older people entertained.
Pam and Dave Brackston, Mary Barrett and Irene Williams have formed 4Toons, performing for senior and disabled groups around the town.
Their latest gig was at Lion Oak Court, in Salisbury Road, Andover, on Tuesday.
Irene said: “We have all been in the music business for many years and are good friends.
“Dave and Pam have run a disco for over 30 years, and also played live music with Mary. I also used to run a disco with my late husband, Gus, and we played live music as Jigsaw along with my father, Jim Jones.
“Sadly Gus and my dad are now deceased, and my friends and I decided to form a new group, similar to Jigsaw, that would entertain locally for expenses only.
“There are some entertainers that go to care homes but they charge extortionate fees, some of them coming from agencies, and we sought to fill this gap in the market.”
The group formed in March and have had many bookings through word of mouth and flyers sent to homes and clubs.
Irene added: “Many establishments have asked us back again and we are booked until December, and taking bookings for next year.
“Our programme comprises folk, country, comedy, songs from musicals and 1950s/60s songs.
“I sing to my own guitar accompaniment, while the other three ‘toons’ sing to backing tapes.
“Our shows also include some dance routines, much banter with the audience, a small quiz or game for prizes, and we encourage the audience to join in with percussion instruments, and to sing along if they wish – or even dance, as some do!”
