Paula's flying high for good cause
10:00am Monday 28th October 2013 in News
A MEMBER of staff at Wellington Academy, in Tidworth, has jumped out of an aeroplane in memory of a student’s mother.
Student manager Paula Holewell completed a parachute jump last week at Netherwallop to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
She jumped on behalf of Katie Taylor, one of her Year 11 students.
Kat i e ’ s m o t h e r Tracy sadly died this week after suffering from cancer for three years.
Paula said: “Tracy was not concerned for herself, she only cared for her husband and daughter whom she left behind – she wanted to know that they will cope.”
Paula, who has been Katie’s student manager for the past five years, decided to overcome her fear of heights for the jump and has so far raised more than £1,300 in donations.
Year 11 students at the academy raised another £300 and hope to reach £2,000.
