Wind farm back in spotlight
9:00am Sunday 15th December 2013 in News
A FURTHER information exhibition on the Bullington Cross wind farm was held at Whitchurch Parish Hall for local residents and the general public.
Those represented at the exhibition included EDF Energy, Keep Hampshire Green and Hampshire Energy Group.
The plan is to build a 14- turbine wind farm at Bullington Cross with a decision on the application expected by April 2014.
Darren Cuming, onshore wind development manager at EDF Energy Renewables, said: “We were delighted with the interest shown in our proposal by local residents. The events have been very well attended with over 150 people coming along over the two days.
“The exhibitions enabled us to update everyone on the project and explain our position on a range of issues raised during the council’s consultation period.
“Overall, the ongoing investigation work undertaken at the proposed Bullington Cross site continues to confirm our belief that the location has good potential for wind farm development.”
However, Douglas Paterson, of Keep Hampshire Green, has not been impressed with the exhibitions and still objects to the wind farm.
He said: “There is very little new information from EDF, so our position has not changed. It was a repeat of the corporatestyle presentation they made last year.
“EDF say they have commissioned reports to demonstrate that the concerns are not significant.
In other words, they have paid somebody to say that everything is fine.
“This changes nothing.”
“Their photo-montages would have us believe that the turbines will be hidden behind a few trees and bushes. We should treat this with contempt.”
