STAFF and volunteers at Test Valley Community Services have helped Abbotts Ann School to bring joy to disadvantaged local children by wrapping 150 presents, collected by the children of the school, so they can be delivered in time for Christmas.

Around 200 children in the Andover area receive no presents on Christmas Day, but with the generous donations of local residents, and the joint help of these local organisations, most will now receive something to open.

Those involved worked together at the Andover office of Test Valley Community Services (TVCS) to wrap the presents, using more than 160ft of wrapping paper!

“We wanted to do something for the community at this special time of the year,” said Terry Bishop, chief executive officer of TVCS.

“Our work involves us in all aspects of support for local groups and charities and we were all delighted to help.”

Richard Scriven of St Mary’s Church in Abbotts Ann, and organiser of the Christian after-school club at the school, encourages the children to set up and manage their own community projects.
