AN ANDOVER bar has applied for a sexual entertainment venue licence.

Piston Broke, in London Street – which currently holds pole dancing evenings at the venue – has asked Test Valley Borough Council for a licence.

Any premises that puts on lap dancing, pole dancing, strip shows or live sex shows requires permission from the borough council.

And the licensing committee will decide whether or not to grant the licence when councillors meet on Thursday, 16 January.

The police, head of housing, environmental health and local councillors have all been consulted about the proposal, but there have been no objections.

In a report about whether Piston Broke should be granted a sexual entertainment venue licence, it concluded: “The application has attracted no objections.

“The committee must therefore determine the application taking into account the location of the premises in relation to other premises in the immediate area particularly the residential flats immediately above the proposed premises.“ It should be noted that the council would be able to exercise control over the premises if a licence were granted by attaching conditions to the notice.”
