AN ANDOVER woman is celebrating after successfully competing in the inaugural ‘Disney Dopey Challenge’ at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Andrea Pinnick completed four races in four days totalling nearly 50 miles around a number of Disney’s famous theme parks between the 9 and 12 January.

The opening event was a 5km run followed by a 10km run before a half marathon and finally the full marathon and Andrea was able to raise over £300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Andrea said: “It was the first year that Walt Disney World Florida had a 10km race and also the Dopey challenge so it was great to be part of this inaugural year of events!

“I chose the event as a friend had done some of the races before and I thought it would be a great way to end my 40th birthday year.

“I am also a massive fan of Disney and we holiday there a lot so for me to run around a magical place seemed the ultimate challenge and we had a lovely three-week holiday as well.

“As many as 10,000 people took part in the 10km and 5km races while 25,000 took part in the half and full marathons.

“The races were all around the Walt Disney World parks including Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, allowing plenty of opportunities for photos with your favourite characters!

“I had to complete each day to earn my medal to finally be awarded the Goofy Challenge medal for completing the half and full marathon and then I was awarded the Dopey challenge medal for completing all four events.”
