YEAR 5 pupils at Anton Junior School had their classrooms whisked back to Victorian times.

The children and staff came into school dressed up in Victorian clothes and the day consisted of a variety of Victorian-themed activities such as handwriting, drill and Latin.

Year 5 teacher Matt Sherfield said: “For each topic at the school we try and launch the topic with a ‘wow’ activity to get the children excited in the theme and to get them thinking about things that they might want to find out about and questions they want to ask.

“The Victorian topic is my favourite topic in Year 5 as the children seem to really enjoy it and they are always so surprised at how much life has changed.”

Year 5 pupil Louise Roskilly said: “I am really enjoying our Victorian school day, we are doing lots of fun activities although it’s hard not to laugh when the teachers are being so strict.”
