A GROUP of adventurers will climb three peaks in Scotland to raise money for an Andover charity.

And the volunteers with Neighbourcare want more people to join in the climb to raise more for their cause.

The charity hopes to raise £10,000 to help towards its work of providing services to elderly and vulnerable people in Andover.

Pam Delderfield, manager of the charity, based in Union Street, came up with the idea, having run a mountain climbing centre many years ago.

She said: “We were trying to come up with a different event to try to raise that amount of money.”

There is already a small group of people who will be climbing Ben Nevis, Aonach Eagach and another peak in Scotland over five days from 8 September.

Among those already taking part include Richard Bowman, of Andover Visually Impaired People.

Richard, who is blind, said: “I just wanted to help out and raise money as we use the minibus too.”

Nighbourcare volunteer Paul Saunders is leading the climb.

He said: “The people we are hoping will come forward can be of all abilities.

We are hoping to have two teams, but they will have to be fit enough to do it.”
