WHEN David Cameron called for Army involvement in dealing with the country’s flooding and weather emergency it meant action stations for many soldiers in Tidworth.

More than 100 soldiers from Tidworth-based 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers were sent to Berkshire and were busily engaged in building flood defences as part of a multiagency effort at Wraysbury.

The soldiers are from Zulu Company.

Meanwhile engineer soldiers from nearby Perham Down were sent to Dorset to help shore up sea defences with their heavy equipment.

Sappers from 22 Engineer Regiment, Corps of Royal Engineers were busy assisting the Environment Agency at Chesil Beach in Dorset this week as coasts were buffeted by high seas and high winds.
