A NEW gallery of people wanted by Hampshire police has been launched to mark a crime reduction charity’s 10,000th appeal.

Independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has released the Unknowns Gallery on its website www. c r i m e s t o p p e r s - uk.org/unknownsuspects.

The charity is searching for three suspects relating to incidents in the Andover and Stockbridge areas.

Most Wanted is a UK-wide online forum where individuals wanted by the police and other law enforcement bodies such as the National Crime Agency, HMRC and the UK Border Force can be found. Information can be passed on about them anonymously by the public.

With more than 66 suspects from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight currently listed and crimes ranging from theft to serious sexual assaults, Crimestoppers is encouraging the public to view the images and pass on any information that they know.

Since its launch in 2005 Most Wanted has featured over 10,000 appeals resulting in over 2,600 arrests. The online hub receives around 35,000 views every month by the public and it is hoped this figure will further increase with the launch of the new section.

In 2013 there were over 217 new appeals, which led to 86 arrests of Most Wanted individuals in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, while 27 other suspects were also identified.

The Unknowns Gallery allows police and law enforcement users to upload images of individuals that they require names for (often taken from e-fits or CCTV stills).

Detective Superintendent Jessica Wadsworth from Hampshire Police said: “Most Wanted has been used very effectively in the force area since its launch in 2005, which has led to a large number of suspects being arrested.
