DETECTIVES investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault in Andover are urgently trying to identify the driver of a silver car who they believe may possess vital witness information.
An 18-year-old woman has reported to police that she was assaulted on Sunday evening (February 23) in a park near to Admiral’s Way sometime between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody.
The woman is currently being supported by specialist officers.
And officers are trying to trace a driver who they believe may be an important witness.
A small silver car was seen being driven along London Road, away from the roundabout known locally as the Merityre Roundabout, at around 7.30pm and officers would like anyone driving a car matching that description in that area on Sunday night to call them as soon as possible.
The driver, or anyone who was in the park on Sunday evening and saw anything which may assist this investigation, should contact Andover CID on 101.
