Boost for charity

TWO workers at Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) presented a cheque to their chief executive for £1,598.75, which they raised by running the Dorset Coast Marathon in December.
Keen runners Lorraine Pink and Chris Cadman ran one of the toughest UK marathons to raise money for, and also awareness of, the charity.
Seeing first-hand the difference the organisation makes to soldiers and their families was all the encouragement they needed.
Lorraine, a director at DMWS, based at Redenham, near Andover, said “Our welfare officers support service personnel and their families when they are in hospital, rehabilitation or recovery centres.
“Many of the soldiers our staff see are having to come to terms with a life-changing injury or illness. We can’t change what has happened but the support and comfort our welfare officers provide to patients and their families has a huge impact on their wellbeing and resilience.”
