A YOUNG horse rider will represent Great Britain in an international competition.

Test Valley School pupil Charlotte Dicker has been selected to take part in the Addington international junior dressage competition from Thursday until Sunday.

She is just one of 10 British riders chosen to compete against other visiting nations.

Charlotte, aged 15, said: “I am really excited but a bit nervous. I have been to premier leagues but this is my first international show.

“It’s a lot of hard work not only for the horses but for me as well.”

The schoolgirl, who has been riding since she was two years old, impressed a selection panel during previous events while riding on her grandmother’s 17-year-old horse Catherston Springsteen.

She has also qualified while riding her own horse – 17-year-old Edgehill Drumroll – for the Elementary Regional Finals at Sparsholt in the summer.

Charlotte, whose grandparents Jennie and Anthony Loriston-Clarke own Catherston Stud, in Over Wallop, said: “I have been training for a while now and we have done a few shows and have done quite well.”
