THE Macular Society, based in Andover, has announced the appointment of Tony Rucinski as its new chief executive officer.

Mr Rucinski is a former director of Scope and trustee of the RNIB and will take over from Helen Jackman in May.

Mr Rucinski’s career spans the financial, higher education and third sectors with award-winning, board level responsibility for strategy and service delivery on a national scale.

He has held several Government advisory positions and has significant experience in the sight loss sector, including serving as a trustee on the RNIB group board. He is registered blind and is also an expert on accessible technology.

He said: “I believe in abundant life after sight loss, so it is a huge privilege to be working for the largest and best membership-led organisation in the sight loss sector.

“There’s so much more to be done in terms of research and support around macularrelated eye conditions. Every day, the Macular Society makes a real difference in people’s lives and I am tremendously excited about getting involved in increasing both the reach and the impact of this excellent work.”

Outgoing CEO Helen Jackman said: “I am really sorry to be leaving the Macular Society at such an exciting time in its growth and development. However, it is wonderful to know that it will be in such good hands.

“Tony will take the society to new heights to the good of everyone affected by this devastating condition.”
