KING Arthur’s Way residents and Aster Communities will join forces for a neighbourhood tidy-up tomorrow.

Aster Communities is set to team up with customers from King Arthur’s Way, in Andover, for an afternoon of cleaning and recycling.

On Tuesday, 15 April, staff from the housing association, which has local offices at Greenwich Way, will be joined by customers for a litter-pick and general tidy-up of the neighbourhood.

The meeting place for the event, which runs from 12pm to 4pm, is the Launcelot Play Park in King Arthur’s Way.

Attendees are being encouraged to bring along unwanted electrical items and clothing for recycling, with prizes on offer to anyone taking part. There will also be a free barbeque buffet for anyone helping out with the litter-pick.

Representatives from the RSPCA will also be there, offering free microchipping for customers’ dogs.

And Visitors will be able to enjoy a nature trail and pond dipping sessions between 12pm and 3pm.

The event has been organised and funded by Aster Communities’ Zone 16 Neighbourhood Panel.

The group is made up of local residents who decide how to spend £16,000 Aster Communities is making available each year to support local projects. It is being supported by Tesco, Andover Garden Centre, brownSkips.com, the local branch of the Salvation Army, Alamein Community Association and Test Valley Borough Council.

Doreen Thomas, community development facilitator for Aster Communities, said: “We’ve held similar events previously and they’ve proved very popular, with people turning out in force to give their neighbourhoods a spring clean.

“We’d love to see as many people from King Arthur’s Way coming down and bringing along any of their unwanted items to be recycled.”
