THOUSANDS of car litter bags are about to flood the district in an attempt to turn the rising tide of roadside litter.

Test Valley Borough Council says it is tackling roadside rubbish this spring with the help of its handy car litter bags.

Councillor Graham Stallard, environmental portfolio holder, said: “Not only is clearing roadside litter expensive and dangerous, it can also lead to safety hazards for other road users, poses a threat to wildlife and blocks drains, which can cause flooding.

“Our message to all road users is to take your litter home with you.

“To help, we have produced 10,000 car litter bags which are being been distributed across the borough.”

The car litter bags can be found in local petrol and service stations.

They are also being distributed to a number of businesses throughout the borough.
