Chance to talk about traffic

TRAFFIC calming measures along Smannell Road, in Andover, will be discussed at a meeting this month.

Everyone is invited to St Paul’s Church and Community Centre, in Smannell Road, on Wednesday, 28 May, from 1.30pm until 7pm.

Representatives from Test Valley Borough Council, PCSOs and councillors will be there to discuss ways to combat residents’ concerns about increasing traffic along the road.

It will be followed by a meeting of the Alamein Community Association in the Gabriel Room between 7pm to 8pm, which everyone is invited to.

Re-routing Smannell Road through a residential street was pure ludicracy and now there are discussions on "traffic calming" measures, which wouldn't be an issue if the road layout had left alone in the first place. The obviious question is: WHY WAS THIS ROAD RE-ROUTED IN THE FIRST PLACE AND WHO BENEFITTED FROM THE CHANGE?. It certainly wasn't the residents.

The problem caused by changing the layout has been around long enough for anyone with a modicum of common sense to realise it should be put back to the way it was originally.
