OVER £3,000 was raised for local Whitchurch causes at the mayor’s charity concert on 29 March.

A night of musical entertainment to commemorate the centenary of the First World War was held with the Military Wives and Bella Voce choirs performing on the night.

In total £3,036 was raised which will be shared between Testbourne Community School, Whitchurch C of E Primary School, Whitchurch Church Project, First Whit-church Scout Group and Army Cadet Force.

Organiser, mayoress Rosemary Cumplin said: “Our sponsors were absolutely wonderful and we cannot thank them enough for their support. Their donations amounted to £1,845 which achieved our aim of adequately covering the expenses.

“From the sale of tickets, programmes and money made on the night from our raffle tickets and refreshments we raised £2,641.20.

“Our raffle would not have been possible without the support of local businesses, who provided superb raffle prizes, giving the event a tremendous boost. Our thanks go to all of them.”

“We are sure that all the money will make a great difference to our chosen causes.

“Many thanks once again to Testbourne Community School.

“I am extremely grateful to those who believed in me that all of this could be achieved!

“It has been a great privilege to have been able to do this in support of the Mayor of Whit-church, and to have worked with the community. I hope we have set the bar high for next year’s mayor!”
