THREE Wetherspoon workers have been training to take part in The Race for Life in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research.
The John Russell Fox staff will be running three miles on Sunday, 8 June.
The Wether girls – Danielle Mason, Shannon Johnson and Amanda Paine – aim to raise £500 for Cancer Research UK.
Shannon and Amanda have been running three miles a week in preparation for the run, and Danielle has been going to the gym three times a week.
Group leader Shannon, 18, said: “It’s been difficult to keep up with but I know it will be worth it. This is something I am passionate about.”
The Andover Wetherspoon branch, in High Street, has taken part in charity work in the past. Colleagues have fundraised for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent and Macmillan.
Danielle, 22, said: “As we are a family-orientated pub it is important to give back to the community.”
The manager continued: “This is an issue everyone can relate to. We aim to carry it on for as long as we can.”
Amanda, 19, said it was a cause close to her heart: “I want to do this to give something back. Cancer affects everyone, in one way or another.”
They are also doing a Deal or No Deal-style raffle where the chosen ticket winner will choose a box containing one of seven prizes.
Raffle tickets are being sold at The John Russell Fox.
