A WEEKEND of live bands and a petting zoo helped a family to raise money for a cancer charity.

The family fun day ran at the Queen’s Head pub in Ludgershall, with money being raised for The Stars Appeal at Salisbury.

The charity supports patients who have been diagnosed with cancer.

The weekend saw bands playing, a visit from Pettastic and Paul’s Party Pals, as well as a bouncy castle and other attractions for children.

Organiser Billy Walters said: “Around five years ago, my wife Fran was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which is an incurable cancer.

“She has been the inspiration behind this event – her, and the many thousands of people that have received that terrible news that the fight for life has begun.

“Fran has been under treatment for the last fourand- a-half years at the Pembroke Unit at Salisbury Hospital.”

He added: “We all have friends or family members who are going through their own battles right now.

“We also all know people who have lost the battle.”

The event was supported by many businesses and bands, such as Child of Imber and 80 Proof Mojo.
