A FESTIVAL first held to help raise funds to renovate the village hall is entering its fifth year.
Hampshire beers and a mix of musicians will be served up in King’s Somborne today for the Somborne Beer and Music Festival.
Organiser Doug Stammers said: “We started the festival back in 2010 as part of a series of fundraising activities to renovate our village hall. It has taken a long time but we are finally starting the last phase of the renovation this summer so we wanted this year’s festival to be rather special.”
The music starts at 2pm on the recreation ground with performances from The Basingstoke Silver Band’s Oompah Band, The Verwood Concert Brass ‘A’ Band and the Southampton Ukulele Jam ensemble. There will also be performances by an early medieval re-enactment group and also, weather permitting, a flypast by two Spitfires.
A team from The Crown Inn will run a bar serving Hampshire tipples. Food and drink will be on offer along with a mix of craft stalls and children’s entertainment.
In the evening the festival moves inside to the main hall with performances by Badge, Black Pig and Ben Goddard.
Tickets are £5 for the afternoon and £10 for afternoon/evening and are available at somborne beerandmusic.weebly.com, on Facebook, at Cross Stores and Martins Shop or from Doug on 01794 389192.
