AN extraordinary meeting is to be held by Ludgershall Town Council to decide whether to grant the 26th Royal Engineers Regiment located at Perham Down the freedom of the town.
The initiative received a positive response from town councillors at their recent meeting and at the planned meeting to be arranged, if two thirds of councillors agree, then freedom can be granted.
Chairman Cllr Owen White said: “They do tremendous work for us, and I think this is a fantastic idea. It would be a big thing to the town and would be backed by an awful lot of people.
“I think it would probably happen some time next year, and who knows, it could even lead to a minor royal turning up.”
