THE final countdown to CarFest South in Laverstoke Park Farm near Overton has begun.

The popular event which is in aid of BBC’s Children in Need mixes fast cars, live music and a food festival will be held on August 22 to 24.

There will be a range of classic cars on display, including organiser and BBC Radio Two broadcaster Chris Evans’s, pictured, own collection of Ferraris called ‘Magnificent 7’, which is part of a wider theme this year called ‘Sevens’.

There will be a Rock Star Seven, Hod Rod Seven, Movie Car Seven as well as more familiar F1 and Rally Sevens.

The special Anniversary Seven will include Nick Mason’s stunning Maserati 250F to celebrate the Italian company’s centenary, while the Muscle Car Seven will feature Ford’s newly revealed 2015 Mustang to mark 50 years of the American classic.

Joining in the fun will be former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, who owns Laverstoke Park.

He will be getting behind the wheel to perform a variety of dramatic demo runs in his title winning Ferrari and Grand Prix winning six-wheeled Tyrrell F1 cars.

The music will come from a star-studded line-up which will include the likes of Erasure, Chas & Dave, Seasick Steve, Tom Odell, Texas, Simple Minds, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Feeling, Scouting for Girls, Jamie Cullum and Jools Holland.

It’s not just on the ground where the action will be, as the world-famous Red Arrows will do a display and there will also be a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Organiser Chris Evans, said: “The wonderful world of CarFest is back. Prepare yourselves for a feast of fabulous festival food, marvellous fast cars and live shows from the kind of bands we all love.”
