THRUXTON is looking squeaky clean thanks to Test Valley Borough Council’s ‘Sparkle Day’ initiative.

On Monday, 16 June, the council’s environmental services team cleared seven tons of waste and spent the day tidying and sprucing up the local area.

The council introduced Sparkle Days in 2012 as part of its ongoing Love Where You Live litter campaign.

The initiative targets different locations across Test Valley and aims to add an extra little sparkle to roads and villages.

Councillor Graham Stallard, environmental portfolio holder, said: “The team was assisted by local community litter pickers and together they worked hard tidying the roads and footpaths.

“Three litter bins were replaced and hedges were also trimmed.

“In addition, more than 150 homes were provided with information to help them recycle more of their waste and the team held a Recycling Stars roadshow at the local school where they spoke to 40 families.

“I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work as the area is now sparkling!”
