BUILDING work at Naomi House children’s hospice is moving at lightning pace, and staff at the charity have already finished stripping out the old hospice building.

In total, 31 metric tons of material have been removed from the hospice, more than 30 tons of which have been sent to local firms for recycling.

Metal, wood, insulation, rubble and plasterboard will all be recycled by local recycling firms and community groups.

Some of the work was undertaken by a professional firm, but the hospice was able to call on the support of volunteers who between them completed over 600 hours of labour, saving the charity more than £15,000.

Naomi House and Jacksplace need to raise more than £4 million to fully refurbish the hospice and ensure the building is fit for purpose for many years to come.

The fundraising total so far stands at £2.4 million.

Naomi House and Jacksplace hospices offers care and support to life limited children, young people and their families from across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, the Isle of Wight, West Sussex and Surrey.
