LUDGERSHALL Town Council members Owen White and Tony Pickernell are preparing a new town map with the assistance of Wellington Academy.

Council chairman Owen White said: “We were aware that there wasn’t a town map on display anywhere and thought it would be a good idea if we had one.

“Then we had the idea of involving Wellington Academy, had a chat with them about it and they thought it a good community project.

“This is the first time we have seen what is planned and I think it is fabulous.”

When finished with its tiles securely grouted and fixed the ceramic map will be housed in Ludgershall’s main car park – which is owned and run by the town council.

College Principal Michael Milner, said: “This is a good way of strengthening links between the academy and the local community. It is also a good way of highlighting the imaginative and excellent artwork that takes place at the academy.”

The mastermind behind the artwork is teaching assistant Paul Critcher, who said the map will be finished in a couple of weeks.
