A VIGIL will be held at St Mary’s Church, Andover, on Monday evening. It coincides with one being held at Westminster Abbey and remembers the moment when Britain declared war at 11pm on 4 August, 1914.
Between 10pm and 11pm the Roll of Honour from Andover Cenotaph will be read out. This will be followed by Lights Out at the Cenotaph at 11pm which everyone is invited to attend.
“Families of soldiers who are mentioned on the Ceno-taph are particularly welcome as well as all who would like to be at this commemoration of The Great War,” said one of the organisers Barbara Long. “Come and pay your respects to those who sacrificed their lives in this conflict.”
