ANVIL Arts has announced the line-up for the autumn season at The Forge, and once again there is an eclectic choice of shows in the intimate venue.

On Friday, 26 September, Carrie Elkin makes a welcome return. Carrie has emerged as one of the defining new voices in the world of Texas singersongwriters.

Jim Causley and Lucas Drinkwater perform on 9 October. Jim has recorded an album of the poems of his distant relative Charles Causley to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of this celebrated Cornish poet, setting to music a diverse selection of his poems to give the audience a taste of the poet’s work.

Jim, who will be joined on stage by guitarist Lukas Drinkwater, is renowned for his warm and jovial stage presence, and his rich singing voice.

On Saturday, 11 October, Brigitte DeMeyer will be at The Forge. From opening for Bob Dylan, to playing with the McCrary Sisters and Buddy Miller, to forming lifelong musical friendships with Brady Blade and Will Kimborough, the journey is far from over for the singer.

On 16 October, Match&Fuse present two ensembles – a mash-up of prog, jazz and punk that is the WorldService Project, nominated for the Burghausen Jazz Award 2014, and the German outfit, Zodiak Trio, who combine an intricate ensemble sound with blazing riffs and soaring melodies.

Nominated for the Horizon Award in the 2013 BBC Folk Awards, Maz O’Connor appears on Saturday, 18 October.

Maz, a singer of traditional and self-penned songs, accompanies her pure voice with guitar, shruti box, piano and harmonium.

Maz’s new album, This Willowed Light, has been produced by multi-award-winning Jim Moray.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Lizanne Knott from Philadelphia is joined by Los Angeles songwriter Bill Reveles for a performance of Hey Harley on Sunday, 26 October.

On Friday, 31 October, singer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Daniels, pictured, brings What’s Here What’s Gone featuring Songs of The Scottish Enlightenment, contemporary folk songs and instrumental music exploring the nature of society.
