SOUTHERN Water is investing almost £700,000 in improvements at its Over Wallop wastewater treatment works.
The project will improve the treatment processes at the site, in Wallop Road, which serves more than 350 people in the area.
The company’s contractor Barhale Trant Utilities is installing new equipment on site and adapting some of the existing processes to meet tightening environmental standards.
A new biological filter will help ensure the treated wastewater returned to the environment is cleaner than ever. New control equipment, pathways and electrical supplies will also be installed.
The project is expected to be completed by December.
James Rance, Southern Water project manager, said: “This important investment will be a boost for the environment and ensure the site continues to meet tightening environmental standards.”
