AN INCIDENT involving an overturned lorry and two vehicles has resulted in the closure of both lanes of the northbound A34 at Sutton Scotney.

The incident, which is said to have happened prior to the Sutton Scotney service station, was reported at 7am and was attended by all of the emergency services and the Air Ambulance Service.

The driver of the lorry had to be cut out of his cabin and was flown to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke for emergency treatment.

Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance Service have confirmed his injuries are not life threatning.

A driver of a silver Skoda Ocatavia was also taken to the same hospital in a land ambulance and treated for minor injuries after crashing into a road-side ditch during the incident.

Both lanes of the northbound carriageway are closed between the turn-off for the A33 and the A303 while the vehicles and debris is cleared.

One lane of the Southbound carriageway was also closed due to debris, but has now re-opened.

Hampshire Police have not confirmed when the northbound carriageway will re-open, but have said it will not re-open for some time.
