MERSEYSIDE band China Crisis will be performing in Andover in November.

After forming in Merseyside back in 1979 with a core band of vocalist/keyboard player Garry Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon, almost 40 years on they will be at The Lights on Thursday, 6 November at 8pm.

The band was originally signed to Virgin Records and recorded their debut album, Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms: Some People Think It’s Fun To Entertain, which was released in December 1982.

A re-release of African & White became China Crisis’ first hit in the UK, reaching number 45 in the UK singles chart. When the follow-up single, Christian, reached number 12 in the charts in early 1983 this brought them to national prominence.

Subsequent release Wishful Thinking cemented their populartiy.

In all they had five Top 40 singles and three Top 40 albums.

During the 80s they spent a total of 92 weeks in the charts and toured Europe and the USA extensively.
