GHASTLY ghouls and creepy crawlies have been delighting children and grown-ups for Hallowe’en.

And the family fun will continue throughout the weekend at a host of fun events.

More than 1,000 people got the party started at Norton Farm in Sutton Scotney last weekend.

Visitors flocked to the farm’s annual pumpkin day, where children took part in worm-digging workshops while others carved traditional spooky faces into the seasonal orange vegetables.

Half-term activities at The Lights in Andover saw children enjoy a host of Hallowe’enthemed workshops from storytelling, drama, dance and craft to cooking and musical theatre sessions. Highlights of the week included The Little Shop of Horrors Musical Theatre Workshop, the Owl’s Whizz Bang Firework Surprise and the Hallowe’en Twilight Tea Party.

Meanwhile youngsters visiting the town’s Chantry Centre on Tuesday came face to face with some shady characters as Animal Magic brought a collection of creepy crawlies to the shopping mall. Children got up close and personal with some of nature’s scariest creatures including, giant insects, snakes, lizards and South African hedgehogs.

The festivities will continue today at a hairy scary Hallowe’en event hosted by Sparsholt College. Transylvanian naked neck chickens and black witches’ cats will be at the college from 10am until 4pm when visitors can also meet other chilling creatures such as stick insects and cockroaches.

Staff at Butter’s Cafe Lounge in Andover will also be extending ghoultide greetings as they host a fancy dress competition for children across the town.

The spooky gathering, which takes place between 4pm and 6pm, will include apple-bobbing, musical statues, pumpkin carving and the chance to design your own chocolate apples.

Residents in Whitchurch are preparing for a party from beyond the grave at the town’s Sports and Social Club tomorrow night. The Spooktacular event, which is now in its second year, promises to be bigger and more ghoulish than the last with hot food, DJs and a terrifying scare maze.
