IT was question time for the people of Andover at an older people’s forum.

People at the Full of Life Harnessing the Grey Vote event got to ask Hampshire’s politicians how they would be supported after next year’s elections.

Deputy Lord Mayor of London and prospective Conservative parliamentary candidate for North West Hampshire Kit Malthouse, vice-chairman of North West Hampshire Liberal Democrats Len Gates and Andover town councillor and North West Hampshire Labour candidate Andy Fitchet answered questions on pensions, benefits and services that help older people to keep their independence.

The National Pensioners’ Convention’s (NPC) general secretary Dot Gibson also spoke to an audience at The Lights in Andover about the issues that affect today’s pensioners and also urged people to sign up to the NPC’s Dignity Code to maintain the rights and dignity of older people in care.

Many organisations signed up at the event, including Test Valley Borough Council, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Age UK Andover and District and Test Valley Community Services.
