A young mother has been injured following an attempted robbery in Andover.

The 22-year-old was pushing her five-month-old baby along in a buggy in the Artists Way area, just off Ward Close leading to Poynter Close, when a man approached her.

He asked for her mobile phone and a cigarette before grabbing her and the buggy handle.

She managed to break away and run off with her baby still in the buggy.

The baby was not harmed but the young woman sustained a wrist strain from the robbery attempt.

He was wearing a white Adidas hooded top with the logo on the left side of the chest, three stripes down each arm and red ties on the hood with dark tracksuit bottoms.

There is no information to suggest any motive involving the baby and police believe it is an isolated incident.
