A TEAM of cleaners will come together today to help Andover regain its sparkle.

Nine members of Test Valley Borough Council’s environmental services department have been working hard around the town to mark Sparkle Day – and will return today to clean up parts of the region.

The scheme was set up in 2012 as part of the authority’s ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign, which aims to improve the appearance of the borough.

The team have already collected more than seven tons of waste from different roads including The Crescent and the area surrounding Rownhams School.

The ‘sparkle’ squad also took time to meet the school’s Green Team to discuss waste and recycling with the children.

Test Valley’s environment boss, Cllr Graham Stallard, said: “The Sparkle Days are key opportunities to talk to the public about what the council does and where rubbish goes, as well as encouraging people to take care of their community.

“I would like to thank the team for their hard work making the areas sparkle.”

The next Sparkle Day will be taking place throughout today in the Junction Road area of Andover.
