YOUNGSTERS and staff from Naomi House and Jacksplace had even more to cheer about after planting a time capsule in the roof of a newlybuilt section of the hospice.

Children’s artwork, poetry, photographs, information about the hospice and even the building schedule have all been placed in the air-tight plastic tube.

Chief operating officer of Naomi House, Mark Smith, climbed two separate scaffold towers to reach the new roof and bury the time capsule at the highest point of the hospice’s new ‘hub’.

It has been built as part of the charity’s Caterpillar Appeal to raise money to redevelop the hospice so that it can provide the best care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

With a space for messy play, arts, crafts and music as well as family accommodation and a spiritual area and roof garden, it will enhance the therapeutic experience for both the children and their families.

The charity expects to hold a topping out ceremony in December and open the new hub next summer.
