Four people have been arrested in connection with a spate of burglaries in the Enham Alamein area in recent weeks.

Officers from Andover Safer Neighbourhood Team have confirmed that 12 burglaries have taken place since the beginning of December.

No charges have yet been made.

Sergeant Steve Parker said: "The good news is that we have arrested four people in connection with the burglaries.

"Those are as a result, in part, of being caught at the scene and in part as a result of forensic investigations."

Patrols have been stepped up in the area after it was identified that 50 per cent of the burglaries were to insecure properties with doors being left unlocked or open.

Officers have been visiting residents in the area advising them how to protect their property and to log their belongings on a national database so it can be identified more easily.

Sergeant Parker added: "We are in operation increasing patrols, both covert and uniformed, in the day and evening.  It is clear that most of them are being done when the offender doesn't want to bump into people."

If you have any information regarding the burglaries contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
