THE future of Andover’s housing will be discussed in the Guildhall and Tuesday (24 March).

Over 6,000 homes are planned to be built in the area during the next 15 to 20 years, and the Andover Neighbourhood Plan steering committee is holding a public meeting to give residents a chance to voice their opinions about the homes and where they could be built.

The plan came into force in August last year following consultations held by Test Valley Borough Council and it is the steering committee made up of individuals drawn from the community who will drive the initiative forward.

The purpose of the plan is to allow people who live and or work in Andover to be able to lead, shape and influence the decisions that affect where they live/work.

The principle of neighbourhood planning encourages local communities to preserve and enhance the natural and built environment and may help create opportunities for homes and employment.

Two public meetings have already been held and this meeting will see a full presentation on the plan.

The steering committee will be looking for more members to join, plus experts who would be able to help on an ad-hoc basis.
