IT’S a Hampshire export that has featured in some of Hollywood’s biggest films.

But now silk woven in the town of Whitchurch will return home as part of a new exhibition.

Silk on Screen will run at Whitchurch Silk Mill until April 12, and includes dresses and accessories used in films and television shows including Back to the Future III, Titanic, The Portrait of a Lady starring Nicole Kidman and the BBC’s Death Comes to Pemberley.

There will also be screen prints created by volunteers from the mill’s young EDGE Project, who used the items on display as inspiration.

Visitors will be able to find out about ribbon weaving and some of the television dramas in which silk woven at the mill has featured.

Admission to the mill, in Winchester Street, costs £4.50 for adults, £4 for concessions, £2.50 for children or £10 for a family.
