IT’S that time of year again – the hunt is on to crown Andover’s carnival prince and princess.

The competition is part of the summer carnival and is proudly supported by the Andover Advertiser.

All contestants will have their photographs taken by Phil Evans Photography in Andover’s Asda on April 9 and 10, between 10am and 4pm.

The photos will then appear in the Advertiser and readers will be able to vote for their favourites.

A shortlist will be drawn up based on the voting and the winners will be picked by a panel of judges.

Iris Andersen, who has helped organise the competition for nearly a decade, said: “Young people get so much out of it. I see them grow in confidence and belief and it’s a joy.

“It’s a very positive experience and I hope as many people as possible get involved this year.”

Mike Sims, head of editorial at the Andover Advertiser, said: “We pride ourselves on being at the heart of the Andover community and are delighted to be able to offer our support once again this year.”

Girls and boys taking part must be aged between eight and 13 on April 9, and must live within a 10-mile radius of Andover.

Entrants must be available to take part in the final selection at the White Hart Hotel on May 26, and winners must be available for the carnival itself on July 19.

The winning ‘royals’ will receive cash prizes of £75 each, supplied by the Advertiser, while the two runners- up, or attendants, will get £25.

They will also have the opportunity to attend numerous events throughout the year.

Only original entry forms printed in the Advertiser, and approved photos taken by Mr Evans, will be accepted for the competition, and the Advertiser reserves the right to reproduce and publish the pictures in print.

The decision of the judges is final.

Please fill in this entry form and take it with you to Asda on April 9 or 10. We look forward to seeing you.
