HAMPSHIRE Fire and Rescue has released further details about a blaze which ripped through Test Valley School.

The fire service have confirmed that they attended a fire at the Stockbridge-based school on Monday (4th May) after receiving a call around 10am.

Three crews battled the blaze for over three hours using various equipment including compressed air foam and breathing apparatus before fully extinguishing the fire at 1.20pm.

Initial reports on social media suggested the blaze had started in the boiler room - something which has now been confirmed by Hampshire Fire and Rescue.

The service has also denied that the fire restarted later that evening.

Meanwhile the school remained open as usual on Tuesday, with the affected areas cordoned off to both students and staff.

The school also released a statement on their official website about the incident, which reads: "Unfortunately there has been a minor fire at the school.

"However, all of the main areas and classrooms are not affected and school will therefore open as normal on Tuesday May 5th.

"There will be a small area of the school cordoned off and all pupils will be expected to stay away from this area at all times until further notice."

Hampshire Fire and Rescue say the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
