A SERIES of burglaries have been reported at farms across the area.

At 3am on April 30 intruders were disturbed while breaking into farm buildings in Highclere. They had forced open the padlocks and gained entry to the buildings.

On May 1 and 2 two suspicious men visited a farm in Kingsclere making enquiries about 4x4 vehicles, offering to buy them and asking questions.

The first male was in a white pick up type vehicle, was aged 50 and of a 'chubby' build. The second was a slim male, in a silver/grey pick up with an Irish accent.

At 1.30am on May 4 a farm building was broken into in Kingsclere and two Husquarna chainsaws were stolen.

Between May 1 and May 4 offenders broke into farm buildings in St Mary Bourne. The doors had been forced and property stolen including an angle grinder, battery packs, a large petrol driven generator and two tractor laser levels.

Police also said they had "seen a number of 4x4 thefts in the area recently".
