Police have identified a young Andover man who was hit by a train near Andover station last month.
The British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed that 21-year-old Nigel Smith from Andover was struck by a train on the morning of Sunday, 26 April.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called around 7.30am that morning.
A BTP spokesman said: “I can confirm a man struck by a train near Andover rail station on Sunday, 26 April has been formally identified as Nigel Smith, 21, from Andover.
“BTP officers were called to the line shortly after 7.20am but Mr Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are not treating his death as suspicious, and an inquest has been opened and adjourned.”
An inquest date has been set in July.
