POLICE are appealing for sightings of a falcon stolen in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday after one falcon is found in Andover.

The two falcons were taken from the back garden of an address in Weyhill at around 2.50am on Wednesday.

Dash, a Gyr falcon cross Barbery, was located near to Winton School, but Branston, a Red-naped Shaheen cross Lanner falcon, is still missing.

Officers believe that they may have been stolen because they look like Peregrine falcons, but when the offenders realised they were not they released them back into the Andover area.

Branston is described as a dark brown falcon with a grey/blue beak and yellow feet. He has a wing span of about a foot and a half in length with fairly straight tail feathers. He also has a white and brown head with marks under his eyes, and is likely to perch on buildings or tall trees and could be friendly with humans.

A possible sighting has been reported in the Charlton area but he could have flown further afield.

Hampshire Police would like to hear from anyone who has possibly seen Branston by calling 101 quoting 44150204417.
