AN INVESTIGATION is underway into a fatal road traffic collision on the A303 at Sutton Scotney.
Police were called at 4.56pm yesterday to the westbound carriageway of the A303 west of Bullingdon Cross interchange.
A car travelling west was involved in a collision with a lorry parked in a lay-by.
Two people were travelling in the car: the driver and a front seat passenger.
The front seat passenger, a man, was later pronounced dead. The car driver, a woman, is receiving medical attention for critical injuries.
Police are in the process of informing next-of-kin.
The lorry driver received minor injuries, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A section of the A303 was closed to allow for a police examination of the collision scene.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision can contact Sergeant Darren Brown at Whitchurch police station by phoning 101 and quoting Operation Sistene.
