Police are appealing for information after a 71-year-old woman had her bank card stolen from her purse in Andover.

Between 12.30pm and 1pm on July 18 the victim was approached by two men asking for directions in the Tesco car park, River Way.

While one man distracted the offender the second man removed her bank card from inside her purse.

One was offenders was described as white, about 25 to 35-years of age, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of a slim build. He had short dark hair which was short on the sides and longer on top. He had thin lips, a long straight nose and slightly olive skin. He was wearing a bright white and dark brown or black striped top and dark trousers or jeans. He had an eastern European accent.

PC Covey from Andover Police Station said: "The theft took place in a busy supermarket car park on a sunny Saturday afternoon and there is likely to be a number of people about who may have seen the two men.

"We would like to speak with anybody who may have any information as to who the men might be.

"I would like to remind shoppers and drivers to remain vigilant when being approached by people seeking their help or having unusual requests. Ensure that your handbag and valuables are safely locked away before providing any assistance to anyone."
